A major sponsorship deal between East Midlands Demolition and Derbyshire County Cricket Club has seen EMD clearing the way for the club's future by dismantling the old Jockey Quarters. The demolition of the Jockey Quarters marks the end of an era as the last sign that the DCCC's ground used to be a racecourse is carried away in the jaws of an excavator.
As with all of East Midlands Demolition's projects, any material that can be salvaged and recycled from the demolition of the Jockey Quarters will be put to good use: either as land preparation material; as foundation material; or as conventionally recycled copper, iron, steel and aluminium. EMD continues to put its best environmental foot forward while it clears the way for Derbyshire County Cricket Club to make more use of its space and spend less on the upkeep of non-purpose built buildings.
East Midlands Demolition is forging strong community links with the takedown of the Jockey Club — which is phase one in a project that will also see the company carry out work to improve the entrance to the ground from Frank Whittle Way. The company has entered into a major sponsorship deal with Derbyshire County Cricket Club, and is offsetting the cost of the work against the advertising presence that deal will bring.
The demolition of the Jockey Quarters will allow the DCCC to properly assess the potential of the land its ground lies on, with an eye to future improvements. Club Chief Executive Keith Long explained that the removal of the final racecourse buildings would allow the club to save money previously spent on maintaining the safety of the old structure, and to open the way for facilities designed with the modern visitor in mind:
"The demolition of these buildings is the next step as we aim to make the County Ground as welcoming, hospitable and comfortable for our members, supporters, visitors, players and staff as quickly as possible."
Like Derbyshire County Cricket Club, East Midlands Demolition has been embarking on its own journey. Keith Long noted:
"Most importantly we want to show our members that we mean business and that we are determined to take this club forward both on and off the field."
The same can be said for EMD, which has plans to build on its growing reputation as the East Midland's premier provider of sustainable demolition services. The company has already made excellent strides in this direction thanks to its work in projects like the Clipstone Colliery demolition and land reclamation, which netted it a special award from the National Coal Board for services to the environment. East Midlands Demolition's partnership with Derbyshire County Cricket club can only serve to raise its profile further.
With plans to invest a further half million pounds in eco friendly machinery and processes by the start of 2011, East Midlands Demolition is climbing the ladder already. Keep an eye out for future community involvement as the company cements its position as the partner of choice for forward looking land clearance projects.
