East Midlands Demolition, in association with the Morley Hayes Golf Club (www.morleyhayes.com) is to host its very own version of the Ryder Cup on July 14th! Thanks to the good offices of the Morley Hayes Golf Club, East Midlands Demolition is able to offer a full day's golfing tournament fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the EMD 2011 Charity of the Year, the Derby Hospitals Charity.
The Derby Hospitals Charity spreads its funding between patient welfare; research; and money for staff training. The charity golf day hosted by East Midlands Demolition at Morley Hayes is aiming to help raise the £20,000 the Charity requires in order to build a permanent Sunshine Deck at the Royal Derby Children's Hospital.
The Sunshine Deck will be created on currently unmanaged ground, and is intended to offer a secure outdoor area for the children and their parents. The Deck will be the latest in a long line of improvements that the Derby Hospitals Charity has been responsible for — improvements including a patient library; a full stock of toys for use in the Children's Hospital; and a series of environmental improvements to the areas surrounding wards that house long term inpatients. The Sunshine Deck is a part of this environmental initiative, which has already delivered hugely valuable increases in space and comfort to the children's emergency department; the Nightingale Macmillan Unit; and the neonatal intensive care unit.
East Midlands Demolition is an eminently suitable sponsor for a charity committed to building a better future for the children and inpatients at the Derby hospitals. The demolition company, which sees a commitment to tomorrow as a part of its own mandate, operates under the motto ‘Clearing the way for a better future’, and is currently in the process of implementing a company wide growth programme with an eye on sustainable and caring development. The programme has already seen significant improvements in the way that demolition jobs in the East Midlands are carried out — from improved facilities for staff and the use of more environmentally friendly machinery, to a greater focus on recycling demolished materials for re use in future building projects. As a commitment to the community and the future combined, it makes perfect sense for the company to align itself with a charity whose work promotes the long term health and wellbeing of local families.
The East Midlands Demolition 2011 Charity Golf Day is to include an auction for the services of a club professional. The highest bidder gets the unfair advantage of having full time assistance from a golfing professional during play: and of course the satisfaction of knowing that his or her money is going to help make the environment outside the Royal Derby Children's Hospital a better place to be.
